About Us
Global Village Academy (GVA) is a public community school established under Chapter 3314.041 of the Ohio Revised Code. Established in 2011, Global Village Academy is located in Parma and reflects the vibrant energy of the area. As a community school, GVA is part of the state system of public education and operates under its charter contract with its sponsor, the Ohio Department of Education.
Our grades span from Kindergarten to grade 8 and we have over 200 students enrolled. In addition to the state mandated Common Core Curriculum, GVA provides a language/cultures program at every grade level. Families choose between Ukrainian or Spanish and students discover different cultures and traditions while learning another language.
The transformative learning experiences at Global Village Academy are designed to help our students grow both in and out of the classroom. Our passionate and skilled teachers are here to help our students make an impact on the world.
GVA’s Elementary Foreign Language Program objective is to have students reach an Intermediate or Advanced level of language proficiency in a target language other than English. Research has proven that studying foreign languages at an early age lays a strong foundation for advanced language studies, as well as an aptitude for foreign languages. It also fosters a fertile environment for the cross-cultural exchange of ideas and mutual understanding. Each student is required to participate in the Foreign Language program every year he/she attends GVA. Currently, all students have one period of language class twice a week. Parents and students can select between Ukrainian and Spanish.
Foreign Language
The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) has clearly defined standards that delineate what all children should know and be able to do as they progress through the grade levels. Well-defined State standards ensure that parents, teachers, and administrators can monitor students’ development. As a minimum, GVA adheres to these ODE standards, preparing our students for academically challenging high schools and colleges.

Ohio Community School Statement
Global Village Academy is a community school established under Chapter 3314. Of the Revised Code. The school is a public school and students enrolled in and attending the school are required to take proficiency tests and other examinations prescribed by law. In addition, there may be other requirements for students at the school that are prescribed by law.
Students who have been excused from the compulsory attendance law for the purpose of home education as defined by the Administrative Code shall no longer be excused for that purpose upon their enrollment in a community school.
